7:25 pm - Opportunity for work

evanshot
If anyone knows anybody in the area that is looking for work, part time income on top of what they already do, or a career change, my company is doing a major expansion and looking to hire a bunch of part time and full time people. It's in Conshohocken. Must be at least 18.
I'll get them in touch with a manager if anyone is interested.

8:47 pm - Temple Cats

ladymacbeth6
I started a rescue called Temple Cats to help save the stray and abandoned cats around Temple University - and there are probably hundreds of them, so it's a big job! If you can help in any way (fostering, donating, trapping, advertising, marketing) please check out our website and let me know! And spread the word! www.temple-cats.org

12:43 pm - Come see Will Shakespeare's "What You Will" Live at Club 12th Night

brtstage
Come see What You Will at Bristol Riverside Theatre!

Life is one big soap opera in Illyria - a country where everyone is very much in earnest, but also a little insane.  The social center of Illyria, Club 12th Night, marks the boundary between games and masquerades and the business of the workaday world, a place where pranks and disguises, playful games and folly rule.

A shipwrecked woman enters the fantastic Club 12th Night, beginning a chain of events that lead to an astonishing conclusion.  Mistaken identities, intrigue, music, a beautiful heiress, merry drunken revelers, and a spiteful servant merge with a hip–hop rhythm in Shakespeare’s enchanting tale of revelry and love. Hopeless romantics will be captivated and pranksters will discover the ultimate joke.

Directed by BRT's Artistic Director, Keith Baker and Donald Byrd, acclaimed Broadway choreographer (The Color Purple) and Artistic Director of Seattle's Spectrum Dance Theater.  Original hip-hop score by Justin Ellington.  Set and Costumes designed by Hiroshi Iwasaki, Lighting designed by Ryan O'Gara

2:05 pm - PAWS IS OVERLOADED WITH ANIMALS! HELP!

ladymacbeth6
PAWS takes in over 30,000 animals a year. Yesterday alone we received 54 cats - and only had about 12 adoptions. We need to amp up our adoption rates, now! Spread the word! There are hundreds of beautiful, adoptable cats and dogs at PAWS! Here's just a sample of some of the beautiful animals who need homes. Please, cross-post this and spread the word. The animals need you!

Pictures and Descriptions of Animals HereCollapse )

SEE MANY MORE OF OUR ADOPTABLE ANIMALS HERE:
http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/PA235.html

IF YOU CAN FOSTER OR ADOPT AN ANIMAL: Come to the shelter (111 W. Hunting Park Avenue) immediately. A staff person or foster care volunteer will be thrilled to help you find the right animal(s) for you to take into safety. Foster care and adoption hours are 11 am to 6 pm every day of the week.

Directions to the shelter are available here: http://phillypaws.org/Directions/default.asp

PAWS, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, is a donor-funded division of the Philadelphia Animal Care and Control Association (PACCA) dedicated to saving the lives of Philadelphia's homeless, abandoned and unwanted animals. Taking in nearly 30,000 animals each year, PAWS is dedicated to making Philadelphia a city in which all healthy and treatable animals are guaranteed a home. Supporting PAWS helps fund lifesaving initiatives including adoption and foster care programs, spay and neuter surgeries, low-cost vaccinations, and other community-based programming, all of which help reduce and will ultimately eliminate the unnecessary killing of Philadelphia's animals. For more information, please visit: www.phillypaws.org.

11:27 pm - Animal Control in Philadelphia

ladymacbeth6
RIght now, there is a lot going on with Animal Control in Philadelphia.  PACCA is in danger of losing their contract with the city, as the health dept has put out an RFP on a contract to start Jan 1 2009, even though PACCA's contract is through June 30, 2009.  Philly PAWS and PACCA have gone leaps and bounds beyond what animal control in philly was doing 5 years ago, and that can't stop. Philly must be No-Kill. There is no lifesaving language in the current RFP, it only calls for "disposal of animals."

Read more here - http://phillypaws.org/savelivesnow/

Join the cause here - http://phillynokill.com/NoKill/Welcome.html

And contact these people, too!  http://www.phila.gov/health/Commissioner/CommissionersOffice.html

Please, the only thing that will save the 30,000+ animals that come through animal control each year are concerned citizens.

9:00 am - Many Mom Cats and Babies at PAWS need Your Help!

ladymacbeth6
I'm a volunteer at PAWS, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society, and I've been looking for more places to get the word out about fostering kittens. PAWS/PACCA gets over 30,000 animals a year and right now we are still battling kitten season and usually have between 25 and 40 litters who need to be fostered or they'll be euthanized due to space. I thought there might be people in this community who'd be interested in fostering - please let me know if you are and i can help you out. This is a post I make a couple times a week with pictures i've taken of every litter of kittens in the building, and i post it on craiglist, myspace, facebook, blogs, and anywhere I can find - please let me know if you know of any other good places i might find philly-area foster parents!

Thanks!

12:27 pm - Teen missing in lower Bucks

Lower Makefield Police: Have you seen this teen?

Posted in News on Monday, August 11th, 2008 at 2:59 pm by Courier Times health reporter Jo Ciavaglia

The Lower Makefield Twp. Police Department is looking for a 17 year-old boy who has been missing since Friday.

Blake Fulton was last seen in the area of his home in the Black Rock and Ardsley roads section of Lower Makefield Township, police said. It’s possible he has not taken his prescribed medication since Friday and he may appear disoriented, police said.

Blake is known to frequent the Kensington, Port Richmond and the 24th and 25th Police District area of Philadelphia. He has no driver’s license, and may depend on rides from others or public transportation.

Police believe the only known identification Blake may be carrying is his Pennsbury School District school identification.

Photobucket

Police describe Blake as 5′11″, 140 lbs., green eyes, brown hair, thin-build and light complexion. He should be wearing jeans and black ‘skateboard’ sneakers.

Anyone seeing someone who may fit this description should call their local police department or call Lower Makefield Township Police at 215-493-4011.

10:55 am - Free Show In New York Tonight

ar7983
Hey Friends -

AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour is underway at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC.

The show opened last night to a packed house and it was a lot of fun. We're trying to make sure the house stays packed throughout the show, so tonight, we're giving away tickets. All you have to do is message me with your email address on the AntiGravity NYC myspace page - www.myspace.com/antigravitynyc - and we'll add you to the list.

We'll even throw you extra tickets (up to 4 total) if you want them. Just let me know how many you need.

The tickets normally run between $45-60 and the show is admittedly a lot of fun. It's loud, bright and exciting performances full of remarkable physical achievement, sexy costumes, and familiar music.

And it's right across the street from the train station in New York, so it's only about a 90 minute train ride from Trenton away! There's even parking at the venue if you want to drive.

If you're at all interested, please let me know.

Thanks!
